If you don't mind me asking, what is your concern with accidentally exposing the grip when you reach for something? The reason I ask is that I have found it nearly impossible when I carry my 1911, but I'm also a smaller framed guy. If I really want deep concealment I opt for a smaller gun in a SmartCarry holster.
I also suspect that you will be in the market for a smaller gun and an EDC (every day carry) small flashlight soon. That is a lot of weight to carry around all day.
medicblue wrote:Actually with some of my clothing under most circumstances, yes. I guess what I'm trying to prevent is the accidental gun butt flashes when reaching up or whatever, having the jacket or shirt catch on the butt and hang etc.

medicblue wrote:By the way, there's a good question too, how many extra inches seems to be what people are using for IWB carry?

Turned out the man was a veteran Army (West Point) officer who made a bad move.

divegeek wrote:It's not weight that matters in a gunbelt, it's stiffness. A stiff belt will distribute the weight around your wait. Personally, I wear an $8 soft leather belt from Wal-mart most of the time, and that works just fine. I have to cinch it a little tighter than if it were stiff is all. I also have some stiff belts designed as gunbelts, but I find the soft belt cinched tightly is more comfortable than the stiff belt. I think that may change as I lose weight.
