Here is a website with details on the event:http://www.cachevalleyfnra.com
And here is the text of a giant email I just sent out to My Favorite Gun Store customers. Some of you will get this via email. Others aren't in my email list, so here is your chance to get involved. This is a GREAT event so please help us if you can! Thanks.
This email is to solicit your help and participation in the upcoming Cache Valley Friends of NRA Fundraising Banquet. I am on the committee for the upcoming event and I need your help! The Friends of NRA banquets boil down to one goal— fund-raising for the future of the shooting sports. Since its inception in 1992, FNRA has held over 14,000 events, reached over 2.5 million attendees and raised over $180 million for The NRA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Each year, The NRA Foundation allocates half of all net proceeds to fund projects within the state in which the money was raised and uses the other half to fund similar projects with a national scope. Money raised by the FNRA goes to: youth education, YHEC, firearm safety and training, Eddie Eagle program, marksmanship training, range development, Refuse to be a Victim training, conservation projects and many other important programs. The Cache Valley Public Shooting Range just recently received almost $20,000 from the FNRA to upgrade clay pigeon throwers. The shooting range has receive tens of thousands of dollars over the years from this program. Lots of the money we raise for this event stays right here in Cache Valley. 100% of the net proceeds from these events goes to the shooting sports program. Yes, 100%!!! This is NOT the NRA that lobbies Congress and sends you tons of junk mail. The NRA foundation is separate from the traditional NRA we all think of. Your contribution will not be wasted. For more info visit the national FNRA’s website: http://www.friendsofnra.org
Let me tell you about the banquet and how you can get involved and what you can expect. The banquet will be held on Saturday, May 19th at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. Dinner will be served at 6:30PM with a live auction following dinner. The event will probably end about 9-10PM. We anticipate a crowd of about 200-250 people. Last year our event sold out and we had to turn people away so if you plan on coming, RSVP NOW! The actual event itself starts at 5PM with a silent auction. You can show up anytime between 5PM and dinner at 6:30PM. I suggest coming early. Before dinner the silent auction will feature tons of items for you to bid on. The items are not just guns and shooting related items. There will be a large variety of all sorts of things to be bid on. There are also tons of items that will be given away in a raffle. You want to come early to get your raffle tickets put in the buckets for the items to be raffled. There is plenty of time to mingle and associat with friends and even make new friends. There are also lots of fun games going on during this time before dinner.
Dinner will feature: prime rib, asian chicken, roasted veggies, garlic mashed potatoes, chopped salad, drinks, and some sort of desert. (The desert option is still being debated.)
After dinner, the raffle items will be given away and the drawings for the other giveaways will be done. The results of the silent auction are announced and then the real fun starts: the live auction. The live auction is a ton of fun. (Last year I won the auction on a cow elk hunt for my son and a S&W M&P15-22 NRA exclusive logoed rifle!) Many of the items in the raffles and auctions are special NRA exclusive items than cannot be purchased any other way. Other items are simply things that have been donated for the auction. There are also lots of games going on during this time.
Attached to this email is a sheet that shows the package costs and what is included. The most popular package is the $395 that includes a 1 in 10 chance of winning a gun along with a bunch of raffle tickets and 2 dinner tickets. You are also welcome to simply come for dinner and spend your money during the auctions. Or simply come for dinner alone. Any and every contribution is appreciated. Keep in mind that the purpose of the event is to raise funds for the shooting sports and you will be asked to spend some money! Any attendee 14 years old or under will be entered into a special kids only raffle. Every kid will win something in this raffle and rumor has it there will likely be 2-3 guns given away in this kids only raffle. So kids are welcome!
The other way you can become involved is to donate items that we can use during the auction. We will take ANYTHING of ANY VALUE. Seriously. Even a jar of loose change! Or an extra crockpot you got at your wedding that has never been opened. Anything will be accepted. You can give a coupon for babysitting if you want! Any item or service or good of any type helps with the goal of raising funds. Please be creative and think of something you can give even if it is simply a service you can provide. (A coupon for a free haircut, if you or your spouse cuts hair.) Anything that we can raffle or auction off will help with the goal of raising money. You can also “sponsor” items to be auctioned off. These items can be sponsored for as little as $25 so even if you can’t come to the event and don’t have a lot of extra money, you can still sponsor a $25 item and help with the event.
Another fun thing we are doing is a pre-event drawing. For $20 you can purchase a ticket for a chance to win one of THREE guns. The flyer on these guns is attached to this email. These 3 guns combined have an MSRP of $2400. These are some very nice firearms. Last year we sold 250 tickets and only gave away 1 gun. This year we are giving away 3 guns. We only have 500 tickets for sale and I don’t know if we will sell all those tickets, so your chances of winning are better this year than last year. We will draw 3 tickets the night of the event. The tickets can be purchased now, or at the door the night of the event. Please let me know if you want to buy one of these tickets prior to the event.
If you want to be involved please contact me via email. I can take your credit card payment information over the phone, or email you a form to complete. Or I can pick up a check or cash. I can come pick up any item you can donate. I will do whatever I can to make it easy for you to get involved. We have set up a website that will have additional information as it becomes available. The website is http://www.cachevalleyfnra.com
and as donations and sponsorships come in we will list your contribution on the website. This site also lists all of the committee members and our email and phone numbers so you are welcome to contact any committee member for assistance. If you work for someone that you think could get involved, please pass this email on to him or her and ask for his or her help. Many business owners would happily help with this event if they knew about it, so please talk to your bosses and anybody you think can help. I personally didn’t know anything about this event until a friend approached me last year. Please spread the word.
I’m not one to grovel or beg for contributions, but I will ask for you to be generous. I also don’t want to pester and bug people about this event so I probably won’t be sending out more event info. I also simply don’t have the time to chase everyone down and cold-call for donations. The ball is in your court. This is one of the best causes I have come across over the years and it is also a ton of fun so let me know if you can get involved in some way. Remember without the NRA, it is likely that none of us would own guns. The NRA has single handedly protected our guns rights over the years and much of the positive gun laws and rights we have are a result of the NRA’s efforts. Helping with this event helps secure these rights and pass them on to future generations. Thanks!
