I am writing to each of you requesting that you move HB424 out of committee for a vote in the House ASAP. It is a good piece of legislation that clearly iterates that if a person engages in activities that are not against the law without the presence of a holstered firearm then the same actions taken by the same individual with a holstered firearm on his hip WITHOUT ANYTHING ELSE CHANGING is STILL not against the law.
I do have a concealed carry permit as a lawful Utah resident and I elect to open carry most of the time. There are certain places that I will not go although completely legal FOR FEAR of certain college or university administrators or LEO's and their expressed desire to violate my rights (referring to the University of Utah policy and directions to Campus police on how to handle LAWFUL firearms carriers who elect to carry on campus with threats of charges such as INTERFERENCE of a school activity, disorderly conduct, unlawful assembly. This bill clearly states that OTHERWISE LAWFUL ACTIVITY IS STILL LAWFUL EVEN IF I HAPPEN TO HAVE A HOLSTERED FIREARM ON MY HIP!
Please move this bill out with a favorable recommendation ASAP!
