We could have some fun with this.
How about I claim the right to the food before you start moving towards it. I have exerted ownership before I have possession, so I now have a legal right in my governmental framework.
If we both start for the food but I am slower, I can trip you and then obtain possession first. Was that an illegal action? After all, I was just equalizing our abilities.
If you have possession, how about I claim my government to be the recognized ruling authority and exert eminent domain. Are you now justified in using force to cast off the oppressive government.
By the way, I don't actually expect answers to any of the above. Its just fun to see where differing views of "rights" run into each other.
