That's what happens in Utah where we're not engrossed in red tape.
I just went in to renew my drivers license. Now mind you I have been continuously licensed to drive in Utah since 1956. Well they inform me I need to produce a social security card and my birth certificate. Huh???
I have never had an "official" birth certificate, just one issued by the hospital. That one would not do, so off to get a "real" one. $18 and an hour later I now have a "real" birth certificate, now back to DMV and after standing in line, getting my pic taken, having an eye test, filling out papers, answering a bunch of personal questions, and paying a fee, ($13, they did give me an old mans discount) another hour later, I have a new temp license. Maybe I will get the real McCoy later? Good grief. What did you say about red tape?
Any way, I am now so proud and happy to have a "real" birth certificate, to prove I was born and didn't just crawl out from under a rock.
