The cause of Monday night's fire is believed to be a spark from a firearm. The man who shot the gun may face a charge of reckless use of a firearm.
Again, notice the language..."is believed to be a ....."
I'm not saying target shooting ISN'T causing the issues, I'm just saying that the media is doing a great job of jumping on the bandwagon, looking for scapegoats. This is an easy target, so they're taking the opportunity to paint shooting in the worst possible light. That's typical of the media these days, and why I have a hard time watching/reading local news. I usually find something to steam about, and frankly I don't need the stress.
If this continues, betcha they start talking about "a special legislative session to address the issue", trying to get the legislature to ok a temporary ban. The anti-gun people are always looking for a wedge to get their foot in the door, and they'll see this as an opportunity.
Oh, I'm not saying it's something that's limited to guns. There are other factions that are as bad or worse, PETA and the Pro-Lifers being just two that come to mind...(it's early, and I haven't had my second cup of coffee). I'm just saying it's interesting, but irritating to watch them twist the news to their views and try to sway public opinion on the subject.
