Google was passing on providing advertising for the multi-billion dollar industry that is the firearms and weapons market, but it turns out that now you will not even be able to search for firearms related items in their Shopping search engine. Where once was displayed page after page of results for firearms, there is now nothing left but a desolate blank page.
I've just written them a letter:
Since today it seems you have decided to no longer allow the shopping search to provide meaningful information regarding firearms.
Aside from the inconvenience for many recreational firearms users you are hindering the public discussion and you are part of the ongoing creation of peoples ignorance of such items.
Understanding of handling, physics, intended effects, public benefits is a desirable goal to avoid un-informed, un-educated views of such items and the compounding negative effects it has to the law-abiding public. Maybe you should inform yourself about the positive developments since 41 states allow personal concealed carry. Or the recreational benefits of the shooting sports in general. Or the simple fact, that even using the lowest estimated defensive gun use statistics the public is looking at ~ 10x more defensive gun uses compared to criminal uses.
But last not least, why is Google assuming that the site visitor can not decide for them self, which item they need and desire. Since when is Google attempting to be in political decisions, instead of focusing on the realm of excellence, which is providing search results to the public, as long as those are legal.
Feel free to comment on their site: https://www.google.com/quality_form?q=ruger+lcp&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=h9w&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1280&bih=857&tbm=shop
Maybe they should know that this results in people using their site less. Any suggestions regarding good alternatives are welcomed.
