IDENTIFY! regardless of the fact these officers were looking for someone else they have a duty to IDENTIFY themselves immediately when a door is opened. Citizens in Florida have a stand your ground law and therefore have an inherent right to answer their door with a gun or other weapon especially at 1:30 am! If these officers had identified themselves they would have had no issue. This man would have lowered his weapon and talked with them and that would have been that.
Simply because a door is answered with gun in hand at 1:30am is no reason to immediately shoot. Had this man wanted to have shot he would have done so first - someone was over reacting and over enthusiastic to shoot that night. This man had every right to answer his door in a defensive posture. Evidently he did no wrong, and should never even be charged with a crime if answering his door this way, simply crumpled and dies without firing a shot because of the murderous intent of the officers at his door.
If identification had properly been made this situation would never have happened. I certainly hope that this mans family sues the department for millions and civilly sues the officer who shot and killed their father/son/spouse is such a cold blood and malicious manner. Terrible, terrible event!
