Salt Lake County Council (on January 5, 2010), pages 9-10 wrote:
Mr. T. J. Tsakalos, Deputy District Attorney, submitted the following ordinance prohibiting hunting and fishing not in accordance with state law; regulating archery in parks and public grounds; and eliminating the prohibition of firearms
and limiting the use of fireworks and explosives in parks. This ordinance also repeals Chapter 10.64, regarding the discharge, possession, and unlawful use of firearms and other weapons:

; AMEDNING SECTION 13.04.140, PROHIBITING HUNTING AND FISHING NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW; ENACTING SECTION 13.04.145, REGULATING ARCHERY IN PARKS AND PUBLIC GROUNDS; AND AMENDING SECTION 13.04.230, THE PROHBITION OF FIREARMS AND LIMITING THE USE OF FIREWORKS AND EXPLOSIVES IN PARKS.
The Legislative Body of Salt Lake County ordains as follows:
SECTION I. The amendments made herein are designated by underlining the new substituted words. Words being deleted are designated by brackets and interlineations.
SECTION II. Chapter 10.64 OF THE Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, 2001, is hereby repealed in its entirety being preempted by Utah Code and Salt Lake County shall be governed by the Utah Code with regard to firearms and weapons
except as otherwise provided for the limited purposes set forth in Chapter 13.04 of this Code of Ordinances.
SECTION III. Section 13.04.140 of the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, 2001, is hereby amended to read as follows:
13.04.140 Hunting and fishing.
No person shall hunt or fish in any park or public grounds [unless there are special facilities set aside for that purpose and then only] except in accordance with [the rules set forth] state law.
SECTION IV. Section 13.04.145 of the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, 2001, is hereby enacted to read as follows:
No person shall discharge an arrow, bolt, stone or other similar projectile from a bow, crossbow, compound bow, or other similar archery device in any park or public grounds unless there are special facilities set aside for that purpose and then only in accordance with the rules set forth.
SECTION V. Section 13.04.230 of the Salt Lake County Code of Ordinances, 2001, is hereby amended to read as follows:
13.04.230 Fire[arms]works and explosives prohibited-Exception.
No person within a park shall carry or discharge any [firearms,] firecrackers, rockets, [torpedoes,] black powder or gunpowder, or any other fireworks or explosives except persons who have obtained a special permit from the mayor [to put on a fireworks show, in which event the person conducting the display shall be trained in fireworks pyrotechnics].
SECTION VI. This ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days after its passage and upon at least one publication of the ordinance or a summary thereof in a newspaper published and having general circulation in Salt Lake County.
