I found a CPO GSR1911 for sale at a LGS; It had been there a while, so I asked if the price could use a little update. They dropped it almost $100, so I took her home. I've not heard much about the GSR's, but I've always wanted a Sig 1911...
I researched the GSR1911 and have gotten mixed results in the searches. I've read a lot of stories about possible QC issues with first run pistols. There are also mention of "manhole covers" vs post "manhole covers" guns.
I've read several things stating that S/N lower than 5XXX or 12XXX have more issues, or that anything after 7XXX have been fixed, etc. I figured since it was a CPO, I have a year to figure all the issues out. FWIW, Its S/N is GS037XX. I'm guessing she's a fairly early run?
I also read one rumor that the guns first came out as Sigarms GSRs, problems were fixed and THEN they were labeled SigArms GSR Revolution, and later just GSR (without the sigarms).
Of course i'm going to shoot it and just see what i run into, but I haven't found any specifics as to what problems to look out for! Any advice or suggestions are welcome as always.
I think she's a beautiful firearm and I am excited to go shoot her sometime this week - probably Thursday, since my wife's birthday is Wednesday and I got her dream gun for her.
