I had disassembled my son's Marlin 989 M2 to do some cleaning and had placed some of the parts on a paper towel in the direct sunlight to dry after cleaning with mineral spirits. I stepped away for a few minutes and when I returned, the paper towel had blown away leaving only two of the six parts that were sitting there.
:crying:
Now I need to locate the following screws and a nut:

Takedown screw front
Takedown screw rear
Trigger guard nut front
Trigger guard screw front

Any suggestions on where to go to locate the parts? Marlin discontinued the rifle years ago. It is similar to the Marlin-Glenfield 60, which was also discontinued.

Magnet and a thorough sweep of the entire area up to 20 feet away OR MORE especially if feet have traversed the area since the incident.

Hopefully, the missing parts are ALL magnetic.
I tested this theory on some of the other parts and found that they all were magnetic or contained enough ferrous metal parts to make the sub-assembly magnetic. I'll make a trek in the direction the wind was blowing and hopefully recover them.
