As for what we can do to change attitudes... just carry on, is all I can think of. Point out to your friends that security cameras don't protect you. Tell people why you carry. Most importantly, raise the next generation to know what you know. You never know how big of an impact you're making or on whom. It's hard to change societal attitudes; it takes a LOT of time, during which you have to put in constant effort.
Just thought of something. Next time I get asked why I carry, my answer is gonna be something along the lines of "Because whenever I go somewhere that says they have cameras for my security, I don't FEEL
safe enough knowing that if they catch some bad guy on camera they're gonna go rip the camera off the wall and beat him with it, as cool as that would be to see. I FEEL
much safer having the option of taking my defense to the next level, if necessary."
If the American people understand the Constitution, freedom can survive a government that ignores the Constitution, because the people can intervene. But if the American people as a whole are ignorant of the Constitution, freedom is ultimately doomed.
