Tactical Pants

This is a place you can feel free to talk about just about any thing you want. As long as it is family-rated of course.

Do you like tactical pants?

I don't wear anything else. Tactical pants are the bees knees, pockets for everything.

Tacticool pants are for mall ninjas. Real operators don't wear them, and normal people think they're silly.

You should be fine. The LAPG brand runs small. 5.11 is pretty "on".

I bought the 5.11 in my normal size, and they fit great. Plus they have a stretchy feature if I decide I need a couple more pounds. The cool thing is they don't even look like they stretch from the outside.

When I was younger I would wear camo fatigues all the time but not so much anymore. I heard a lot of complaints, even from the gun crowd, that camo is too militia/military looking. They were affordable and with the reinforced knees would last a long time. Last year I picked up some of the Wrangler cargo pants from Walmart because the price was irresistible and I liked the cotton material. They are not 5.11 quality but have held up surprisingly well.

I have a pair of Carhartts that have a bunch of pockets and they are heavy duty but the material would be hot in the summer.

I have been eyeing these ripstop Dickies for summer use.

You're one to talk! I've seen how you cowboys travel.

Too lazy to walk, and too cheap to buy a car, so you get a horse.

Too lazy to carry anything, so you make the horse carry it for you.

And the size of those saddlebags!

Too lazy to work, so you train the horse to do it all for you. I've seen guy's rounding up cattle who got a real good nap!

If that's the 5.11 leather belt, I love them! They look great and do not loose their shape under the weight of a gun; even my full size .45s.

:agree: Those belts are awesome. I actually bought the pants just to get the belt. The pants were just an added bonus.

I had to vote mall ninja. I carry a PDA, check book, wallet, cell phone, keys, knife, and pepper spray in some dockers with one extra pocket. I carry the HK most often these days with a spare mag and I do it all with nothing on my belt. I have a hatred of fatigues and cargo pants I was proud to wear the uniform but, to go around dressed in fatigues is stupid. it makes you look like some right wing wack job. To be all 15.33ed out (wearing three different 5.11 products) is better then only those in the know, know. If you are a medic, lineman, carpenter, and many other professions then cargo pants stand out about as much as a green lawn, they are just not for me.

I agree, but that's not what we're talking about.

The tactical pants I wear look a little dressier than dockers. I think they're more comfortable than dockers, too (which are more comfortable than jeans). I wear them to lots of meeting with senior executives of various clients, including fortune 500 companies, and no one raises an eyebrow.

Was thinking cargo pants, I just ordered 2 pair from the link in this thread. I could wear those, and a free belt is it reinforced?

Tactical pants are cargo pants, but a little nicer. They usually have pockets inside the big cargo pockets so stuff doesn't rattle around, and they often add additional pockets on the waist area, including pockets specifically designed to carry extra magazines. Tactical pants are often built a little sturdier than typical cargo pants, too.

Assuming you're talking about the lapolicegear link, I don't know if the free belt is reinforced, per se, but it is very stiff. It's a good gunbelt. If you ordered two pairs of pants, you'll get two belts.

Love the belt, sturdy, attractive and fits nice. I think the pants look quite nice. The fabric is soft and inviting to the hand, it is hard to resist touching, so I dont. :o I am going to buy two more pair for the sweetie. :D
