I have a friend who is a security officer. He has a blue uniform and wears a badge. Looks pretty much like a LEO unless you notice the "Security Officer" patch on his shoulder and the same words on his badge. He was on his way home one afternoon, about to make a left turn into a side street, when a car full of punks passed him on the left and he had to slam on his brakes and stop his turn to avoid an accident.
The punks slowed down and made obscene gestures, laughing at him. Then they saw the badge on his chest and he watched their eyes widen. They sped off, and he watched them flying down the road weaving in and out of traffic. So he decided to call 911 and follow the punks to help any police in the area find them.
He came to a cross-street and saw them a couple of blocks away whipping into a strip mall parking lot. When he got there, he found two police cars sitting there. Seems the LEO's had been just pulling out of the place when the punks pulled in, and the punks had clipped the front bumper of one of the police cars!
The punks were all sitting on a curb, and I think my friend said they were in the process of being cuffed. He got out and told one of the policemen what he had witnessed down the street a ways. "Good!" said the LEO, "More trouble for them."
Then my friend went over to the punks. He said they looked even more dejected when they saw him. "Hi, remember me? Good to see you guys again!"
One of the LEO's had my friend swear out an additional complaint about what he'd seen. and had him present it to the punk driver to sign in his presence. My friend said it was one of the most satisfying things he'd experienced in a long time!
