Awesome Responsibility

When we decide to own guns and carry them, we need also to shoulder the awesome responsibility of keeping them out of the hands of curious children and unauthorized persons. Many guns get stolen each year, and now and then a child will get a gun and discharge it hurting or killing someone.

What can we do? When we carry, keep the gun on our person, If it must come off it should be put in a secure place like a safe. I have a locked box in my vehicle for the gun if I need to take it off somewhere while out and about.

At home, be careful to store your gun safely where the kids won't get it.
There is no excuse for ever leaving the gun where it is available to other persons.

I bring this up because I have at times done something stupid and later thought how negligent I was. Luckily no ill came of it, but the possibility was there. Could I ever forgive myself if something had happened?
