It looks like BCI is getting caught up on the backlog. Their web site shows they are currently processing applications received July 17. It went from early May to July 17 in just a couple weeks. My application went in the first part of July so mine should be here shortly, though who knows how long it takes them to actually process them.

I think it is great that BCI is finally getting caught up (at least for in-state apps) - they really could have been held civilly liable for not providing the permits in the 60 days required by law.

If anybody else is in the queue, be sure to let us all know when you get your permit.

It makes me very glad of two things:
  1. That I got my permit before the rush that put them so far behind. I hand-delivered my application and got the permit in 10 days. :p[/*]
  2. That the Legislature fixed the inequitable funding problem, allowing fees to remain with BCI to cover their costs. That, I'm sure, has made a big difference.[/*]
Hopefully, they'll get back closer to the 10-day kind of time-frame. :D

I am glad to see them catching up.

I have had my permit for about 8 years now.

I can't remember how long it took to get that first one, but it seemed like a long time, way back then.

That was in the days when we also had to have a couple of letters of recommendation to go along with our application.

Well so much for the past, it is good to hear things are picking up.
