I've taken up bike riding again (human-powered, not motorbike). I have a recumbent tadpole trike that I ride (see below). It's very comfortable and a load of fun, but it's inconvenient to take my sidearm iwth me. I can carry it IWB, but it gets rather uncomfortable after about mile five, plus I'm not sure that all the sweat is very good for my admittedly low-end, worn SA (Bersa Thunder 380).

I'm looking for input on other options.

In looking at the laws regarding open carry (and the confusing car laws), and I'm getting a little fuzzy on whether I can legally strap the gun to the bike at all ("loaded" or not). (There are plenty of places as you can see, just need to be wary of dirt and water.)

Check out Open Carry. With your CWP you are allowed to open carry a loaded firearm and carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle so IMHO you should be fine. Without a CWP you can open carry "Isreali-style" or at least two actions from being fired.

I would personally leave the gun on or about your person since if you wreck you could have problems with a gun coming loose and either being lost/available for a BG, kid, etc to grab or discharging. However, I have seen car-holster mounts so I doubt that you are required to keep it on your person. Probably a shoulder rig or fanny pack would work in this situation; I have also seen a joggers rig somewhere that straps on your chest.

Thanks for the additional thoughts.

I'll post the same question over at open carry also. I've spent the last half hour browsing and the folk there seem quite friendly.
