Trying to figure out what I like more. With my XD I got the basic XD Gear Magazine pouch.

And for work I have the normal police officer pouch.

I noticed in the news reports many had the first one, the XD Gear type.

What do you prefer? I'm kinda leaning towards the open pouch so you don't have to work about snaps and such to get to your magazines.

I've used the Galco for years and like it very much. Good retention and easy on and off.

I have a Bianchi Triple Threat for my 1911 and I like it just fine.

Actually it was designed for Block, but I just tightened down the screws and it works just fine for my .45

For my speed loader when I carry one of my revolvers, I use a cell phone case. When I carry the pt1911 I use a Leather Man case for my spare mag.

I just use a cheap uncle mikes mag holder. Not the best but it works and does not slow me down on reloads.

It felt like it slipped around on my belt a lot, hard to take off when I tried taking it off, I don't know, just didn't like the feel to it overall.

I wear a 1.75" kydex reinforced Wilderness Instructor belt. The BlackHawk accessories fit it nicely. I guess if you had a smaller belt, it might not work quite as well. When wearing smaller belts, I put the mag holsters on over the belt and pants (so the clip is inside my pants holding onto belt and pant). This makes them a little more snug so they won't move around. Just an idea. :dunno:

For gun training classes I use the XD Double Mag Pouch with 16rds. For out and about my single Blackhawk.

Well, I am not to picky as long as I have the fire power I need when I need it.. This works really good, well at least it did until my boss asked me if he could use my leatherman last week and I had to go out to the truck to get it. Oh yeah, I have been known to answer my knife instead of my phone also.

My leatherman case isn't big enough.

Dave, yeah, that could work. I know I need a bigger belt anyways. I have a thin dress belt I've been using. Need to go get one. What did some recommend? I forget what it was.

I use a Safariland OC spray holster. It holds the mag very snugly, and I can get to it real fast. It was flopping around on me, but then I tried putting it around both pants and belt and it snugged right up.

Oh yeah, and for my Hi-Points I use a leatherman holster for my spare mag too.

I know what you hold, Jer, I just saw it this weekend.

I got an Uncle Mike's this weekend. Had two choices between the two Uncle Mike's and found one that fit very nicely for my XD. So going with that.

Oh, and what are you doing with your XD gear one? I may be interested in it, if my mags fit.

If you use covered practice finindg the flap with the middle of you hand about where your index finger meets the hand press into the carrier and up, use the pad of the index finger to trace the corner of the pouch with a little inward pressure to guide you to the front of the magazine, with practice its one motion without wasted movement to open the carrier and properly grasp the mag. It only works (for me) if the mag holder is in front of the hip . I don't know how you carry but I used to have a pouch or two strong side so the the weapon could be topped off or reloaded from the holster, think weak hand injury or detaining with the weak hand and a mostly empty gun.
