After Hundreds of talks, countless examples, etc, etc, etc this wonderful day has arrived.

What the heck is he talking about you may ask?

:D :D My wife asked me to buy her a gun that she can conceal carry and sign her up to get a permit!!! :D :D

She has gone from totally against guns to wanting one herself for daily carry in just 4 years. This should give hope for any of you who have a wife that is not a gun fan since 4 years ago me not having a gun in the house was a condition of our marriage.

Now I just got to find her a gun she will like (she says my 9mm’s and 40’s hurt her hand) anyone got a suggestion and/or gun she could/should try out?

Enormous Congratulations!!!

No help on the gun though...my wife likes my .40 and 9, but hates my small Kel-Tecs .32 and .380 (and 9mm keltec for that matter)

I say buy her any freaking gun she wants. Hey worst case is you get to aquire a nice collection while she makes up her mind. LOL.

That gives me TONS of hope. One day after talking about holsters my wife clicked and asked if I was going to carry everywhere. I said yes, and that started a losing battle.

She said if I got into a situation, then I could get one but she sees no need to right now. I told her if I got into a situation to need one I could be dead...

Congrats, and yay for hope for us all!

YEAY!!!

One thing to talk to her about, if you haven't already, is CONCEALABILITY WITH WOMEN's CLOTHES. My wife likes my 9 much better than the P3AT she carries b/c the P3AT hurts her hand. But there is no way she can conceal a 9 (even an SC) with the type of clothes she typically wears.

So she settled on the P3AT. She has committed to running a box through her gun once a month to stay up on how to shoot it. But regular target practice she just shoots my 9. That MAY be what she'll want to do, I don't know. Just something to think about.

Of course, maybe concealability isn't something she has to worry about...

Woo hoo! That's awesome.

My wife got her carry permit when I got mine. In fact she wanted a gun, so I bought her a S&W Mod 60 357 and we then got our permits. Since that I have got her a Walther P22, and a Beretta Tomcat 32. She likes to shoot them all, even shoots my 45 once in a while, but hasn't taken to carrying much. I reload light 357 loads for her. The Mod 60 is too mean with regular 357 loads.

Now here is a funny, she was Relief Society President when she got her permit.

That's awesome! The woman just need to get together now! A womans group or something. Bring her to the next meet in Layton or at Cabelas in Lehi. I would love to meet her.

Thats great! Find a range where you can rent guns and let her try eerything. After trying every single gun at rangemasters and all the guns my family and I own my wife decided on a Sig P239 in 9MM or a S&W K frame in .38 special. Unfortunately, I dont own either of them so one of them is coming out of my gun/ammo budget.

We need them to be able to protect themselves also. Get with me offline.

That is a nice offer. I know 2 women (wife and mother in law) who have finally converted.

FEG PA 63s are selling to dealers for 99.95 not a great trigger but a great buy there are surplus Walther pp's in 32acp on the market right now as well as an abundance of SIG 225s but thats a 9mm and one of my all time favorites HK P7 one of if not the lightest recoiling 9mms in existence. Some women like the thunder belt for carry and with the different clothing that makes sense.

If my wife had the same condition wen we where engaged I'd be single

I bought a S &W 642 in 38 spec for my wife but she is recoil sensitive and didn't do well with it there fore didn't enjoy the gun. I replaced it with a Ruger SP101 in 32 magnum (very low recoil) 3" barrel and she has fun with it. It is a little heavy and a bit long for carry but can be done with a good holster. I have been thinking of replacing the 32 mag with the new 327 so she can still shoot 32 mag for fun and I can up the load to a nice self defense load in the 327 for home or carry use.
