Technical Question: according to the new law on the books,is beating a dead horse a felony?? ( Not to make light of the law by the way )!!! :shock:

No It actually only applies to cat's and dogs.

I am pretty sure it applies to all household pets. I know I wouldn't want to risk it. Pretty soon eating a steak will be illegal.

Actually it applies to "Companion animal" if you look at line 110 here http://le.utah.gov/~2008/bills/sbillint/sb0297.htm it defines "Companion animal" as "an animal that is a domestic dog or a domestic cat". I still think this law is kinda stupid since a lot of offenses against people aren't felonies.

When I quickly reviewed the law I missed the "companion animal" description. Good catch.
