Hello all:

I am your newest member. Although you don't know me yet, I have one thing in common with the rest of you--a love for guns. My wife owns a .22 Beretta (Model 21A). I will be getting a pistol, either a Ruger or a Glock. My extended family has plenty of guns to go around.

I have loved guns for as long as I can remember. You may think I'm crazy but I actually dream about guns. There isn't a day I don't think about guns.

I have been a concealed carry permit holder since 2002. I am also a NRA certified pistol instructor (although I still have to take a class to get my Utah credentials).

I am a Second Amendment activist and have taken an active role in defending the right to keep and bear arms. I look forward to chatting with y'all.

Welcome to our forum! Glad to have you here.

I used to live in your neck of the woods ... well, next to American Fork anyway -- in Cedar Hills. But since then, I've changed jobs and moved to Cache Valley.

I'm glad you're with us in the fight to preserve the right to keep and bear arms.

Those are excellent choices. I've heard good things about that S & W model. Tapehoser, is that the 4" barrel?

My wife's Beretta is ok. Beretta is not the best maker but it is a neat little gun. It has the tip barrel, which is a perfect gun for beginners. It also has a unique result when it shoots .22 LR from Aguila. It makes a paper hole punch through targets--doesn't seem to do it with any other brand of ammo but Aguila. The FFL who sold it to her said it was formerly owned by an ATF Special Agent.

Yes, the XD is the 4" barrel. It has 2 different magazines: a 10-round and a 13-round. The 13-rounder is longer, of course, and literally makes the gun the exact weight and dimensions of the XD Service model. The 10-rounder is quite a bit more compact and that's the one I carry each day. My IWB holster, however, has an extra pouch for another magazine, so when I'm feeling saucy, I take both mags with me.

Whatever saucy means....

I'm a cheapskate so I don't hang-out at the ranges.
I usually go over on the south end of West Mountain above the land-fill, or on the foothills just east of the south Santaquin exit on I-15.
And I always take something to plink with when we go out rockhounding.
