Thanks guys. I appreciate the good wishes. Luckily I'm not QUITE as old as the guy in Dave's picture :D

No guns. I almost bought a P3-AT, but decided to get a GPS receiver instead. It was a tough decision, but I'm taking a bunch of boys back into the Wind River range next month, so I decided it was important.

You'll need it for sure its a big place and it's easy to get lost when you get into the back country and you're trying to keep an eye on the kids and the trail. I love that place. It's one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots I've ever been to. Take along some bear spray. Our horses got pretty scared every night we were there. Fresh bear tracks all around the enclosure we'd built.

I'm excited for the trip. I've never been to the Wind Rivers, but I've heard for years that they're fantastic.

I am going to get some bear spray, and I'm taking a .357 Magnum in place of my usual 9mm. I need to find some .357 FMJ loaded HOT. I think bear spray is both more effective and safer than a firearm for defense against bears, but I want to have the gun as a backup option. Since we'll be packing in about 15 miles, I don't want to carry a rifle.

Yep,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Swil,

I would have let you borrow my 44 Ruger (6 shooter) and 44 Henry rifle. But they are stached away for now. Good luck on the hike and stay safe.
