I'm Nick and I live in Sanpete county. I stumbled across this forum a few days ago. Since I've spent an unreasonable number of hours since then reading here, I thought I should join the list. That way I can add to the 'controversy'.
I'm from Washington state. Moved to Utah about 7 years ago. I had a permit in Washington for about 15 years. I just received my Utah permit yesterday. (Took 58 days, for those who are interested.) I'm old enough to find myself slipping into the 'good 'ol days' mode. As in, old enough to remember 1968 as a 'black' year for firearms owners, old enough to remember parents who gave their children firearms for presents didn't have to worry about being arrested for child 'endangerment' (child endangerment is not teaching your children about proper firearms use!, Even 'city kids' had BB guns), old enough to remember that school administrations worried about girls hemlines and not about boys with pocket knives, misbehaving boys came home with 'red marks' on their backsides and didn't even dream about complaining to their parents. I guess that's enough of that.
I've acquired a number of guns over the years, from the single shot 22 I used to teach my son to shoot (of course, he much preferred my 10-22), a 30-30 for deer, a 30-06 for bigger/farther, a Colt 380 for personal carry (I know, it's not fashonably big enough today), to a new Kel-Tec SU-16 for helping me get home without appearing on the evening news.
I guess that's enough of an introduction.
