Hello everyone,
This is my first post on any concealed carry website. I obtained my permit almost 2 months ago now. Currently I carry a Ruger SP101 2” or a Springfield XD .45 4”. If anyone has a good suggestion for a decent holster for the Ruger I would appreciate it currently I have a crappy Galico clip on that makes me feel like every time I draw the holster will come right along. Secondly if you are looking for a good kydex holster for an XD I would recommend one from http://www.bearclawholsters.com/ the one I have for my XD allows concealed carry of the 4” monster with use of a slightly longer polo. I look forward to many more posts and welcome suggestions on the Ruger holster.
Thanks,

Welcome to the board, LHS. Sorry but I don't have a recommendation for the Ruger - I'm a semi-auto kind of guy and tend to gravitate towards Milt Sparks leather. Unfortunately, they're about 12-14 weeks out these days. Hmmm. There's a local guy I've heard good things about. Let me look.

Ok, here we go. http://www.ubgholsters.com/index.html Nate's out in Stansbury Park and I see he has a mold for the SP 101.
Welcome to our forum. Thanks for introducing yourself. We're glad to have you here with us.
Welcome to the forum, Lucky. Come back often.

Welcome. Now tell us a bit about your screen name! There has to be a story behind it.....

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good information here.
Thanks for the suggestion on the holster I will have to check them out. As far as the screen name goes there is really nothing to it. Being a network engineer I have geeky flights of fancy and so at one point in time spent a lot of time playing a computer game called counter strike, in the game you try to shoot your opponent be it terrorist or counter terrorist. Depending upon where they were shot determined if they would die or not. Fortunately for me I have quite a bit of luck (or skill) and generally delivered headshots. Thus everyone pissed and moaned and complained of my lucky head shots and the name was born.

Welcome and thanks for the information about the XD. I have a son in law who is looking for a good concealed holster for his.

I wish I could help you with your Ruger, but I don't have one. I do have a Taurus 617 which is a 7 shot snubby. I have an uncle Mikes shoulder holster I use mostly with it, but I also use a hip pack and a smart type carry with it. I do have a belt holster I use with it and a speed loader holster too, but off the top of my head I can't remember the brand and model on the holster. When I get home I will check it out for you, as I am not carrying it now.

Again Welcome.

Thanks,
Welcome! For the Ruger holster try an Uncle Mikes size 36, it's a really comfortable IWB that's not very expensive either.
Thanks for the suggestion on the uncle mikes holster. For me I have had bad experiences with them. I have one of the felt clip on holsters for my Ruger and I always felt like the gun would fall out when I went up stairs or jogged a wee bit. I am really thinking about getting a holster from http://www.ubgholsters.com/index.html especially since they are local, but well see come payday.

I am home now and the holster for my snubby is a Bianchi #5 Black Widow.

It says it is for 4 " Med/Large Revolvers, but it works just fine with my 2" snubby, and conceals well. The holster is made so that it covers just over an inch of the barrel. That means on my snubby less than an inch of the barrel protruds from the bottom of the holster.

Good Luck

I carry a S&W snubby and I carry it in a ankle holster or in a 5.11 tactical holster compressed t- shirt, It's so comfortable you'll forget it there.

Accessorize, have more that one option.

I'll buy that holster from you if you don't like it. Bring it to RR tomorrow. I don't like their new ones with the velcro safety strap.

When I carry IWB with that holster, my belt rides over the cylinder, pushing the revolver firmly into the slightly concave shape of my abs form to make very secure retention (I've even been known to sleep with it there) with quick access. It makes for excellent concealment for just about any occaison. :D
hi from a female gun lover! check out the event forum, a bunch of us are going to red robin tomorrow from this website and from opencarry.org see if you can come and let me know for reservations.
Sorry guys I haven’t checked the site for a while I would have gone today.
Alas maybe next time. About the holster the next time we have a gathering ill bring it along for you Ruger Collector you can just have it ill never use it.
