I decided to join since I saw a link from another site I belong to. I've always have been thinking about getting a handgun since the mid 80's. I believe now is the time to get it. I'm researching alot and I'm ready to check some out soon. I was in the Air Force from 75-79 and have been a Civilian DOD since 80. I use to be heavily into MA since 76, studying Tang Soo Do and Wing Chun. I stopped in 2003. I'm currently keeping in shape hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and recently started lifting weights again. Not sure if I will carry though (with permit). Having been mostly thinking about taking a handgun along while hiking and backpacking in the backcountry. So this is alittle bit about myself. I hope I can contribute to some threads.

Thanks for the welcome. As I was reading some of the posts, I saw a few people from Davis County on board, and that there was a meet/greet at the Golden Corral last month.

Welcome to our forum! Thanks for introducing yourself.

Even if you don't want to carry concealed, you might consider getting the permit, which will give you the option to do so whenever you want to, plus carrying in your car not in plain sight.

Welcom Shaolin. I am new to the board as well and just down the road in Syracuse. I think there are a few on the forum from this area.
sirnado, welcome, but please don't forget to do your own introduction thread so we can get to know you better.

Jeff,

I might just do that. When in the car, I guess I can have it on my person, right? If not, can it be loaded in the car?

What DON'T you need a gun for. Pleasure & Protection, can't get much better than that. And after you get one, you need to get a 2nd, and a 3rd, and a 4th, and...........

When I have a wall that looks like Burt's (from the movie tremors) Then I might slow down a little.

Welcome.

Why get a gun?

Well I remember in the movei "Raiders of the Lost Ark" when Indy ran into that huge guy with a sword....He pulled and fired.

Right now I'm only looking at maybe getting two handguns. First either a Glock, or Springfield XD, maybe a Sig Arms. Then and maybe then a Springfield 1911, I really liked the one Thomas posted pics of. Then I might just keep the 1911, lol
