I apologize!!!

Wow....Although I mentioned before that my spelling can be bad, apparently I struck a chord with a number of people on here. I have received numerous private comments about not only my spelling, but also my grammar usage. Honestly, this is a first in many years of forum posting. I understand I may make a few mistakes here and there. I usually get to these forums late at night. Therefore, I am usually tired and type fast to get as much content out as possible. This is,as with other forums, a place to share knowledge, ideas, and concepts. I certainly check myself when I write letters or comments while representing myself as a ccw owner to others outside of forum world. I guess I have always seen content as much more useful first. I think of some of the forums from the past, including packing.org, where mispells and grammar mistakes commonly occured. I'm certainly not saying that it is appropriate to have bad writing skills. I also did not think I've made that many errors. But, apparently I have misspelled enough to irritate a few. I apologize to those who are upset. I would have more expected this from my content. From now on I will run everything I write through a spell checker and I will slow down my posts. Sorry everyone, I know English skills are important. I grew up in a family of English teachers and scholars. However, I have been writing in forums since I was a child and therefore bad habits have formed. Some of these habits include shortening words down or typing the internet form of them. I'm also an electrical engineer so I tend to only spell C code right. Sorry everyone!!!!!!! :ack:

no worries mate! We all msake mistskes, and yes, I know I commented privastely, but it was more out fun. I will leave my errors here so you at leadst have someone else to look at as a poor example of how not to use spell checker. I just had surgery on my hands and I still make plenty of m,istakes. Liek that one.
We all maske them and no one was probably getting "on you," but rather were having a little fun with you. I also get on here late at night--1am rite now & I know I am doing poorly. We all need to remember though, that the spell checker doesn't always catch it all.
:lol3:
Your comment was really not that bad at all. Regardless of your post, I received enough other comments about spelling and grammar to merit an apology. I don't take anything personally on forums, but it does irk me a bit when my writing is being attacked. Especially when I've already mentioned in previous posts the possibility of an occasional misspell or mistake. Cinhil your comment was taken lightly so don't worry. Some of the other private e-mails, however, were down right lectures. I felt as if I had streaked across the board screen or something. I don't streak, too many deaths occur. :) Anyhow, I'm sorry to those English Majors out there that I offended!!!!
Having my grandmother be an english teacher, she would "try" and wack us with her cane every time we asked her "grandma are you done eating?" She would attempt to wack us with her cane and say "I'm not a turkey and I'm not done, I'm finished. So it kinda was funny. When she would raise her cane she would just sit there and wobble and maybe get a tap of her cane on our arms.

I usualy try to spell check my posts, but not all the time. If pepople cant stand your or anyone elses spelling or grammer erros let them wine. If they dont like it they dont have to read my posts.

I comend you for your willingness to but do not think less of you for your spelling mistakes. The only people I would look less on is the media. They make so many mistakes its pitiful.

(This post was not spell checked!)

Dont like it? Go to an english forum!
Ignore the PM's. The world moves to quick to waste time over something like that. I type fast and often just ignore my typos even when I know they are there, cause I have something else to get to and don't want to take the time to go back and proofread or spell check. Who cares! If they don't like your spelling or use of the English language they don't need to read your posts!
I usually type my comments in MS word, use the spell checker, and then copy/paste my replies on here. My spelling is so bad it often takes 5-6 tries to have the spell checker guess the word.

It had to correct 4 things in the above post alone.

:crying:
I had no problem with your spelling. Gives a board character.
Whip,
If the PM's were mean or rude, I agree with the others, ignore them. (or contact a moderator.) Aside from that, IMO, I think getting a PM about your grammar or spelling is much better then someone trying to embaress you on an open forum.
While I personally deplore the degradation of the English language as evidenced by many internet postings and the veritable epidemic of keyboards with inoperative shift keys, I am dismayed that a number of UCC members saw fit to take you to task for spelling and grammatical errors. It brings to mind the Biblical parable about casting the first stone.

I'll open a discussion about this in the mods' section of the forum.
Sheesh... If you are that worried about your spelling, don't go through the hassle of typing it in MS Word, just go download Mozilla Firefox. It has a built-in spell checker and is a much better and safer browser than MS Internet Explorer.

On that note, and to help restore peaceful feelings on the forum, I propose that we make next week Poore Speeliung 'n Gammer Usege Weke. Starting next Monday, prepare to type as fast and poorly as you possibly can (but try to make it intelligible, I still want to understand your posts :lol: ).

P.S. Woohoo!!! 500 posts!!!
I believe that if people are that concerned about spellin' and gramrin they should possibly find a forum more suited to there likin'
Thanks Folks!!! I understood that most on UCC have no bad feelings about spelling, etc. I was a member of packing.org back when it was still going. I can remember the flames and anger that started to fly between people towards the end. I try to make sure no one is upset with me or misunderstands me as a point to try to keep neutrality with all.

So to appease those who were bothered, I figured I might just make an appology. I am personally impressed that I am typing in english at this point of the night anyways. :)

I keep wanting to type:

printf("I don't understand why %d spelling errors could cause %d PM'S",Num_Err, Num_PM);

Sorry...Inside Joke!!!

I take my words and writing very seriously off forum, but on forum I rather focus on words only. But, I tend to be a peacemaker so thus my actions. See Y'all on the forums!!!!

Come on ... get with the times:
Code:
cout << "I don't understand why " << Num_Err << " spelling errors could cause " << Num_PM << " PM'S" << endl;
:lol2:

Don't sweat the criticisms. Like Don, I could wish that people would communicate properly. However, as a moderator, I just ignore spelling and grammar errors. The only things that I do correct (other than forum rule violations) are improperly-coded bbCode segments that cause links, pictures or other things to not display correctly. For some reason, a lot of people seem to wind up with extraneous end of quote codes: [/quote]

We value your input whether or not you spell correctly. Those who can't tolerate spelling errors can skip reading those posts that contain them.

BTW, I second the motion that Mozilla Firefox is the way to go for your browser. It automatically spell checks my posts as I type, underlining in red those words that are not in the internal dictionary.

You forgot the namespace prefixes. Oh, and is it really necessary to flush the output stream? Could slow things down ;)

If you REALLY want to get with the times, though, you should use:

puts "I don't understand why " + Num_Err.to_s + " spelling errors could cause " + Num_PM.to_s << " PM'S"
though personally I'd prefer:

print "I don't understand why", Num_Err, "spelling errors could cause", Num_PM, "PM'S"
but in practice I'd be forced to write:

System.out.print("I don't understand why " + Num_Err + " spelling errors could cause " + Num_PM + " PM'S");

And this is why I am no good at programming! :bangdesk:

faster brains.. means more time to learn more stuff, EH?
I believe that understanding what someone is saying is more important that what is being said.. or read. I like to read what you post whiptrackercracker

This topic tickled my funny bone just enough that I thought that I'd post the following:
Just for fun (in honor of the spelling controversy) - a quiz

It's just in fun, so don't take it seriously or get torqued. :D
