I just recieved my Maine Permit and I am now carrying concealed and if I oc i carry loaded. It is nice to be able to do. I am used to having a loaded firearm (being in the military) and it was weird not having one loaded. Any suggestions for a newbie at conceal carry?

Congrats,

Advice, make sure you have a wide stiff belt (iwb or owb). Wear it tighter than you would normally, get the best quality holster you can find and dont skimp because of cost. Don't get too nervious about marking. No one, except perhaps someone that carries also, will notice. If your pants are on, so is your weapon. And lastly practice safely and regulary with your concealed setup.

Thanks for your suggestions. I used to OC almost all the time, and now I plan to do both, more conceal now. Everywhere except work.

If you've mil carried for a long time then you probably will not be too concerned over concealed carry. Seek advice hear if you need a concealment holster, however. We may be able to save you from having a drawer of useless holsters...maybe! I think everything has been mentioned, other than this, KNOW THE LAW. Whether you conceal or open carry its a good thing to know the laws pertaining to both really well. You will most likely at some point be called out on those laws or harrassed about it. Being able to defend your actions helps a bunch. I also suggest maybe carrying the pertaining statutes with you if needed. Otherwise, carry often and enjoy. Welcome to full on full charged enjoyment of your rights!!!!
