Hey everybody. I have had my cfp for a little over a year now, and carry all of the time. My wife and I got our permits after the shootings at Trolley Square. I had thought about getting it for a couple of years but knew that having my gun with me all of the time is a huge responsibility. We live in SLC pretty close to Trolley Square, and I had even told my wife that I was in the mood for Spaghetti Factory that night. That night, my wife and I decided to take that responsibility upon us and get our permits. We signed up for the class the next week. I am currently a student at the U and carry everyday on campus. I also have many friends who I share my beliefs about gun rights and self protection with. Some of them have also gotten their permits. I carry a 4†XD 40, and my wife has a 3†XD 9. We have had the 40 for about 4 years, and bought the 9 when we got our permits last year. I recently had my first open carry experience at Cabela’s on Memorial Day which I wanted to share on oppencarry.org, so I decided that I needed to finally stop lurching and introduce myself. I usually OC when I go camping or hiking, but this was my first experience OCing in a crowded store. I have a 30-06 for hunting deer and elk, and my wife picked up an AK-47 for me to take hunting last season. I even got my deer with it. I have been looking into getting a home defense shotgun, and maybe a small revolver as a backup gun. Do any of you carry a backup gun? If so what kind, small semi-auto or revolver. Someday after school, I would love to get an AR in 6.8 and the new XDM looks amazing too. The last thing is that my name comes from my wish that I could be a real mountain man and the fact that I sometimes have a beard that makes me look the part. Thanks for such a great forum, I have already enjoyed reading it and now hopefully I will also enjoy participating as well.
