I am new to the forum. I have been a shooter since I was about 10 years old, and got my first gun at 12. 30 years ago I was a police officer. I shot on the pistol team, and trained to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. I have had a concealed carry permit for some time, but didn't carry until the Trolley Square tragedy. That was a wake-up call for me. I'm getting old, slow, and weak. I decided it was time to be ready to protect myself and those I love. This past summer I have certified as an NRA instructor for Basic Pistol, and Personal Defense in the Home. I am just a few weeks away from certifying in Personal Defense Outside the Home, the new course introduced by the NRA this January. I also am an instructor for the Utah Concealed Firearms Course and have enjoyed teaching that course.

Welcome!

If you are old and slow and weak at 42 then I wonder what I am.

it is good to have you here.

Old and slow and weak I am, but for the record I'm not 42, I'm 55. I had a spinal cord injury a little over a year ago. Thank God, I'm walking again, but I wouldn't do very well if I had to run away. I used to be pretty good at running away. In addition to my other back trouble, I have long had a big yellow streak down the middle of my back. Since I can't run away any more, and I can't fight like I used to, I am hoping if my mouth can't get me out of a fight, my Glock, Browning, or Colt, or my Cold Steel knife might help me win it.

The above is how I deduced that you were 42. Now 55 makes much more since in light of your other statements.

You remind me a little of how I describe how at 57, I play basketball. I can't run, I can't jump and I can't shoot, but I can still foul.

Sorry to hear about your injury and I hope you continue to get better. having had back problems myself I can feel for you.

I do like the way you think.
