Hi, I'm new here. I'm 27 years old and have a wife and two kids.

I only have one gun.... I own a Browning pump-action shotgun, which was my first real experience with guns. I mean, I shot a .22 in Boy Scouts and all, but that was pretty much it. My parents never had any guns when I was growing up. My father-in law gave me the shotgun as a Christmas present a year or two ago (maybe three now, time flies). I was lucky enough to make friends with a law enforcement officer who loves to shoot and owns a lot of guns. I've gone out shooting with him on several occasions, and he let me shoot many of his guns. So with him and my new-ish Browning shotgun, I began to gain lots of interest in guns. I had a friend recently get a CCP and he came over and showed me his gun and permit, etc..... That was the motivation for me to suddenly get into guns a lot more. I figure if he can get a permit, so can I. So I'm going to go take the class, probably the first saturday in June.

I'm going to buy a handgun for sure, (and I already have the wife's OK on this), I just don't know which one I'll get yet. Leaning toward a Kahr (because they're really light and thin) or the Sig p239 (because it's DA/SA, .40 and supposedly small enough to conceal without too much effort, and because of sig's renowned reliability)

Thanks for the introduction! Glad to hear you have made the decision to not be a victim. As far as guns go, go handle and shoot of bunch of the ones you are interested in. It's an investment and you don't want to buy something you don't absolutely love. Since I am an XD lover, I would recommend you check out the Springfield Armory XD line and see if anything there tickles your fancy. Glad to have you here, stick around, make yourself at home and post often.

welcome :sup:

I like Sig's myself, I have a P220 .45 Stainless
the P239 is nice you can get different barrels for it and shoot more than one kind of round.

but whatever you get it you'll probably get more

Don't just go by reputation alone. It's good that you have access to several different guns, because not all guns fell the same. Some fit better and thus are more comfortable and consistant than others. And what shoots great for one person, isn't all that great for some one else. Oh, and welcome to the group :D

Well, I have shot a couple of SIGs, and I liked them. I've also shot a Kahr and a Glock .45. So, yeah, I'm not going by reputation alone :D

This is exactly what you should do. Try what YOU want and get what YOU want. I tried Glocks and XDs and I could shoot better with the XD so that is the way I went. Good Luck.
