I just wanted to be the first to say thanks to everyone that made it out to our event at Golden Corral today. I really appreciate all of the support and it makes setting up these types of events much more exciting when you get an awesome turnout like we had today. I really enjoyed meeting those of you that I hadn't met, and I always look forward to seeing those of you that I have. I hope everyone made it back home safely, and now its time to start working on the next one   Jeff....Cache Valley

How about a little detail for those of us who couldn't make it??? (photos, head count, public reaction, mentionable moments, topics of conversation, etc)

Also... CACHE VALLEY???? Wow... now THAT's a distance... why do we keep dancing around SLC????

We had a great turnout of 30+ people and completely filled the banguet room. We got very little reaction from the general public (other than the usual strange looks). We will have a story in the Salt Lake Tribune late tonight or tomorrow with coverage of the event including some pics. A few people had their personal cameras as well so it won't be too long before we have some pics posted on the forum. We are still debating on whether to have the next one in Cache valley or Salt Lake City....maybe we need to take a vote. B

I would have liked to have attended but I was taking care of a sick 5-year old. Perhaps next month.
Ditto. A five year old and a four month old.

Well......no real mentionable moments except maybe me & one of the locals having a smash-up derby in the parking lot  .
Ok so we just backed into each other, had to call in insurance claims, all that kind of fun stuff ya know

It was great to put some names to faces. Seems like we have a great bunch of folks that hang-out on the boards. :D

Yep, I did a quick head count (in my head) there were a minimum of 30 of us at this luncheon, probably a few more. Tacomatose, thanks for setting it up, please be sure to say thanks to the manager of the establishment, if you haven't already.
It was a fine outing had by all. My wife may not like shooting herself, but having come from a family with no introduction into fire arms she is becoming increasingly more comfortable around them. I even got her out to shoot last week end! I am glad she is getting more comfortable around them. As she learns more about our constitutional rights she is more secure around guns and weapons, and is willing to stand up for those rights for me and others.
I was very pleased with this turnout, everyone was cordial & pleasant. I think the photographer did a good job and I hope his article will be informative and well respecting of what we are trying to accomplish. Hopefully this will bring others into the fold, so to speak, or to at least generate good discussion and thinking.
A great time had by all! And Jeff did deserve the plaque that Thomas presented him with for his continued efforts in keeping this sight up and running, especially when he (Thomas) was ill and unable to keep up with the site he started. Congratulations.

I was very touched by that plaque from Thomas. That was totally unexpected, but I appreciate it!

I'm glad that people had a chance to meet Thomas who is the founder of this forum and still hosts it at his own expense. I would have said something to that effect at the lunch, but was so caught off guard, that I just stumbled over what to say....

We had a very good time meeting each other. Now I know what even more of you look like... :D

Thanks for organizing this event, Brian! It was a great turnout.

I really like that Cache Valley idea!! :D
We've been to Provo and to Layton now. It's only natural to go further North. 8)

Should we start planning a December 15th event in Logan? Jeff, would you be willing to find a location? I am happy to help out in any way I can. I can work with the Media up north maybe we can get a few of them to cover the event.

If we get a good number of RSVP's I am also thinking of calling in a favor to a TV reporter that owes me a big favor. They think they would do a good job of covering the event. We can call this our first annual UCC and OpenCarry.org Christmas Party.

Thoughts?

On OC we mentioned an activity or speaker to go along with the event. What does everyone think over here?

And yet no road rage shots were fired. Huh ... Sarah Brady and Marla Kennedy must be very disappointed.

Newspapers, TV, magazines, etc. Next thing you know people will almost expect to see guns. What’s this world coming too.

I like Cache Valley. I bet we could even arrange to shoot at the Hunters Education Center range.

I really wanted to come, but I was out of town for 8 days before and I was working all day on Saturday trying to catch up. Sounds like it was great though. (would have been much funner than working ALL day.)
