Hello all!

My name is Kat. I live in West Jordan, Utah with Herb(my dear husband of almost 12 years), my 3 & 1/2 year old daughter Lara, and my 3 teenage foster sons(HIPPA law prevents me from mentioning their names). I've had my CFP since Feb 26th 2004. I'm so glad to be here and I hope to meet other CFP holders in my neighborhood. I guess that's it...Any Questions?

First of all let me tell you that we are glad to have you! Please feel free to ask any questions you might have or just join in on the conversations here. We hope that you feel the desire to stick around, post often and make yourself at home.

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing why you decided to get your CFP. It sounds as though it might have something to do with your family. Also, does your husband, Herb, carry? If so, please encourage him to join as well.

Finally, we are planning a BBQ in West Valley City on July 17th, so I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend with your family next month.

Great to have you here!

In all honesty I had an unrealistic fear of guns. I decided to familiarize myself with firearms to overcome my fear. The more information I took in, the more I overcame my fear. I also developed a strong support for 2nd Amendment Rights.

My hubby is still uncomfortable with guns...I carry the thunder in this family! LOL! More recently, I've been helping him overcome his fear. He's actually expressed interest in doing some weapons training and eventually getting his CFP.

Today my biggest reason for carrying is my kids. As a mother, I could never live with myself if I failed to protect my family from harm. One of the best things I have going for me is the element of surprise. A criminal doesn't suspect a mom to be packing and that's the biggest mistake they make...assumptions.

Welcome, Kat! Always good to have a little more of the feminine perspective. I wish I could get my wife interested in carrying.

Welcome Kat....

I think that if you could get your Husband to come out to some of the get togethers this group has....you would find that he would warm up more to the the idea of protecting those that are near and dear to you.....

If you come out you will both find that this group is made up of some really good people...(There are a few old sore heads but we mostly ignore them.)

It is good to have another female here to lend some of the gentler insight to the carry of arms.

That's an excellent slide show! I would have felt real sorry for anyone who stumbled into that camp looking to do any harm. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I look forward to meeting all of you in person.

Welcome Kat. Now post often because I absolutely love looking at Lara Croft! Wow! Also, I think you are the first one here that is female and carries, but your husband doesn't. That is definetely out of the ordinary. We have lots of women here, but to my knowledge all of them have a husband that also carries. Anyway, I think its awesome that you are carrying. Have fun here, and again, PLEEEEAAASSSEEEE post often....

LOL! I love Lara Croft, too! My daughter is named after her. When Herb and I were first married we were always broke so we stayed home after work everyday and played Tomb Raider. Well, he would play and I would read the guide and tell him where to go...It was good training for the early stages of our marriage. I gave orders and he followed! HAHAHA! Just joking...I have the utmost love and respect for my hubby.
