I'm an Idaho native that transplanted to Utah 30 years ago and have spent most of that time living in Provo. While I don't get out and shoot nearly as much as I'd like, I am avidly and actively involved in protecting the right to keep and bear arms.

I have been an advocate of open carry for more than 20 years and regularly carried open until I joined a volunteer group (Utah County Sheriff's Communication Auxiliary Team) that prohibits me from doing so any time I might be identified as part of the group. :(

I have not yet aquired a CFP, though I have taken the course and filled out all the papers several times but then get into the argument with myself about compromising my principles by begging big brother for a permit to exercise a basic and Constitutionally guaranteed RIGHT. :x

I hear what you're saying... :agree:
However, I went ahead and got mine so that I could go ahead and carry either concealed or openly with a fully-loaded gun.

Stick around and post often...

Welcome to the forum. What part of Idaho did you come from? I am from the Greater Firth Area but came to Logan for an education and haven't found a good reason to go back. Great intro by the way.

I grew up in Twin Falls, lived in Rupert for four years, Rexburg for a summer and then moved to Utah. I, too, moved here to get an education. As much as I would like to go back to peace and quiet, jobs are kind of scarce up there.

Welcome to the forum. Know what you mean here, but until we can get our legislators to set things straight, it is still nice to have the permit. It makes it a whole lot easier to carry either on person or in a vehicle, and nice to avoid the security check and fee when buying a new gun.
