I just talked to someone at BCI a few minutes ago. I think her name was Terry. I asked her if the LDS Church has renewed their prohibition on firearms, and she said "I dont think they have. Let me double check."

Five minutes of being on hold, she comes back and says the Church HAS renewed the prohibition. She said "it just went through". Not sure if that means today, yesterday, last week, last month, etc.

But apparently no carry, still, for 2006 at church.

Doesn't make a bit of sense to me.

Unfortunatrly this is another aggregious abuse of power, and abuse of our constitutional rights concerning separation of church & state. I put it this way because regardless of how this ill advises law came about, it was done through the church-and no church shoould have lawyers creating laws, whether they geet passed or not. This is what I call a violation of the church & state clause of the constitution.

Yep -- I was also very disappointed the church contacted the HB24 / SC24 bill sponsor and let him know their position on it.

Is Senator Madsen a member of the LDS church? Either way, I see it as an attempt to "strongarm" him.

Every November, especially Presidential election years, the church sends a message to be read across the pulpits and reminds everyone that they are politically neutral. Yet they have a stance on this stuff? I don't get it.
