Who carries a less lethal option? My wife practically refuses to carry, I bought her a taser that will sit in her purse, she also carries spray. Until recently when I had the misfortune of my own personal stalker show up at my work I never thought about less lethal. I am not a cop anymore if it comes right down to it I'll just shoot'em. Then (more drama than usual) a customer at the pharmacy where I work flipped out because I could not tell him how to get cash with his welfare card. The ATM guy stood and watched some one (customer?) called police and I stepped between this crack head bum and my manager with pepper spray in hand and politely told this "gentile man" to leave before the police arrived. He did.

I didn't want to go hands on with a filthy crackhead that could have taken hygiene lessons sewer rat, I'll keep the spray in my pocket. I am thinking about a taser for my self now, it may save my job, I am not "allowed" carry at work but, I do.

It is so much easer to justify spray and taser use. I'd think a large portion of defensive use of firearms may be avoided with a less lethal option. I do not necessarily advocate it for everyone. On one hand, you know the dead guy wont bother you anymore, on the other you are far less likely to be sued and or prosecuted.

I always carry OC. I love using it on people. (bad people only) because I know how bad that stuff hurts. I have one of the ASP Key defenders and love them

I have OC that I used to carry religiously.

Unfortunately, it's too bulky and I have been leaving it at home an aweful lot. Also, I have OCD and tend to constantly be playing with the sliding switch which doesn't seem like too good an idea.

What I need to do is get one of those much smaller OC's that I can more easily keep on my keyring and which has a push button rather than a sliding switch. Until I get one of those, I doubt I will be carrying my OC much.

But I do tend to think carrying OC a very good idea.

I will take a taser repeated swift kicks to the groin in a CS chamber over OC any day! I think I'd prefer it to FN 303s and less lethal shotgun rounds too.

I carry Fox Labs OC spray. I also can carry OC spray at work, but I cannot CCW at work. If you use the spray first and it does not work, it strengthens your case for use of lethal force should that happen. You're also much less likely to get sued over the use of OC spray. If I lived in FL or MO with stand your ground laws or absolute civil suit immunity for any justifiable self defense act then I may be less inclined to carry OC spray.

I carry OC. I do it becasue I feel I should have some other option to go with besides just going to gun or getting into a fist fight. Not only could it look better in court, but less than lethal tools were originally designed so the person using them would be less likely to get hurt than by going hands on.

I've been in my fair share of fights and the fight was done when one of these things happened, I wised up and went to my ASP, OC, or Taser or when a bunch of Boys in Blue came to help. During one of these times I nearly broke my hand hitting the guy in the face. Why risk putting yourself in more harm when you don't have to. Use something other than going hands on if you can. I have met about 8-10 people that I never in a million years would have guessed were Martial Arts Experts. I sure would have hated to have found this out after they had just finished kicking the crap out of me.

As has been stated before nothing works %100 of the time, but chose something that will put you at the least amount of risk possible. I'm not saying don't learn martial arts, I think you should. I have had to hit and kick myself out of a guys reach so I could pull out a Less than Lethal Tool and then the fight was over. Yes, you can fight through OC, or tear one of the barbs from the Taser out, and you actually have to be somewhat accurate with an ASP to get the most "bang for your buck" out of them.

OC not only causes pain, but it causes involuntary eye closure and it makes your body create A LOT of mucus. To me the best thing OC does is the involuntary eye closure. OC does have it draw backs, you can get a does of it yourself, using it in a closed room or in an area that uses a circulated air system could cause other people some problems. But, OC is cheaper than a Taser and it's smaller than an ASP and you don't have to get up close and personal to use it.

My $.02 worth.

I just bought some SABRE spray for myself and for my wife. It seems simple and effective. Does anyone here have experience with this type?

I consider SABRE one of the best OC's to carry. It ranks hotter than most and has a good following.
