Thanks, that was some good stuff. Especially that part about the landing gear being up and locked. Reminds me of my trying to drive w/ the parking brake on.

The meaning of "secure a building" in different branches of the military:

If you told Navy personnel to "secure a building," they would turn off the lights and lock the doors.

Army personnel would occupy the building so no one could enter.

Marines would assault the building, capture it, and defend it with suppressive fire and close combat.

Air Force personnel would take out a three-year lease with an option to buy.

Those who party with the owls by night should not soar with the eagles by day.

A helicopter can't actually fly. It's just so ugly that the earth repels it.

A good landing is one that you can walk away from. A great landing is one after which you can use the airplane again.

That stick in front of you makes the plane go up or down. Push it forward and the houses get bigger. Pull it backward and the houses get smaller ... unless you keep pulling it backward after which the houses will suddenly get bigger again.
