Hi all!
I signed up here to keep up on the local laws and keep informed about the latest training for CC.
I will be getting my permit soon (I've been telling myself this for a while), and still need to get a carry gun since the one I currently own may be a little big for me to feel comfortable with.
I'll probably lurk around here for a while soaking up information, and pop up once in a while with a question.

Good to have you, roseblood!

Have you tried carrying the large model you already have??? I carried a full-sized Ruger P89 for a year and concealed it just fine. The Ruger is slightly thicker than a commander sized 1911.

What model of firearm are we talking about? Do you have a decent holster for it?

Welcome! I am sure you will have questions at one point or the other. We do our best to give you as much info as possible :)

I agree that concealing a large firearm can be difficult - especially inside the waistband (outside... not so much). There are many good compacts out there from reputable companies. If you need any suggestions, please ask, I'm sure there are enough of us here to give you a good startup window shopping list.

If you haven't taken the class yet, there are a lot of instructors here you can get info from so you can take hte class. To see what it would be like to carry the current gun you have, get a holster, and carry your gun concealed around the house to see what it will be like. If you decide to get a different gun, go to a gun range that rents guns try what they have so you can decide what you like. Don't be afraid to ask questions, hope you stick around, and post often.

The gun I currently shoot is a Glock 37, and I have tried it in a couple holsters in the past and haven't found a good way to carry it without printing; though I probably could find a way if I tried more.

I would really like to get a compact pistol though, maybe a G26 or the G38. I can't really get away with a OWB holster as I don't typically wear clothing that would be good for concealing, but an IWB holster would work great.

Oh, and a couple of us here at WSU are looking to see if we can attend the class WSU offers without paying the fee for the class. Either way, we'll likely be in the February class.

Now if I can just figure out a way to get a CCW for California since I travel there often for Navy Reserve duty.
