My Office

Don't think I've shared this with y'all yet, so here goes.

I am a reloader. Love reloading. I wake up in a sweat in the middle of the night thinking of new powder/bullet combinations that I'd like to try. I enjoy reloading VERY much.

Anyhoo, the company I work for has a semi-crappily worded policy, containing 1, 4-sentence paragraph stating that all 'firearms and explosives are prohibited on company property.'

My good friend here at the office is also a reloader. When we would find an odd caliber while sorting through brass, or a new bullet, we would bring them into the office to show each other. Thus, I had quite a collection of brass sitting in my desk.

One day we were making a bit of a racket with some of the brass - you could hear it 'clinking' as we picked up and put back pieces from a box.

A fellow co-worker went directly to our site Director and stated that seeing 'that kind of stuff [made him] nervous.' The Director wanted serious discipline against us and made his desires known to the Human Resources Department. After they came to me stating that they were about to take disciplinary action against me, I calmly pointed out that the Code of Business Conduct does not include empty, deprimed brass cases in their definition of what is NOT allowed on company property. "It only states 'guns and explosives' and brass cases are neither", I said.

So they backpedaled as fast as they could and simply sent out an email notice to all employees that they were amending the code of business conduct to include 'brass cases, bullets, or anything related to firearms.'

I am very surprised at how vehement people can be when it comes to their anti-gun ideas. It makes me angry that people can be so close-minded.
