I was asked on another forum about what I call my version of Smart Carry.

I am posting pictures here for those who are interested.

It is made of a cloth pancake holster and a web belt. The holster is reversible and can be worn right or left handed. I bought it at Gallinsons on one of my trips to Salt Lake.

I use it for either my 1911 or my .357 Magnum 7 shot Taurus revolver.

How well does it work? I assume that you wear it in much the same way as you would in a SmartCarry holster? Is it comfortable?
Yes very comfoftable.

I put it on over my shirt, low so that the top of the butt of the gun is about even with my belt.

I then put my pants on and it disappears.

It works better with pleated front pants, and pants that aren't to tight in the waist.

I am 6' 4" and about 205, so I don't have to fight a belly.

If I use it with clothes other than a suit, it works well with Savan motion jeans I get at Sams for about $15. Some are pleated and some are not, but they all have some give at the waist and work well.

I played a game of basketball with it on, wearing non-pleated green Savans that match my scout shirt.

Although I carry in a smart carry holster most of the time, I have carried in this method using the uncle mikes pancake and a belt. Except I carried the holster behind my right hip. I've done that in situations where I needed to have the utmost fast draw in a big city no matter what my carry position was. It worked perfectly well and was comfortable. I still find the smart carry to be more comfortable, but this works too!!!
