That was a nasty storm yesterday. Did you all make it through OK?

Aside from having to move some snow it didn't cause any real concerns here. The wind sure piled up some good drifts here and there.

I made it through without really a problem. I am sure many others had worse experiences. My biggest problem was all the traffic in my way going so slooooow. I pulled into a subdivision and was able to go faster than on the main streets. And no, I didn't speed.

No problem at all. One of the joys of being retired.
An announcement came over the PA system at work saying that due to inclement weather, we were invited to go home early. Yea!

I've never experienced that before. Of course, I already had 8 hours in for the day, so it just kept me from working longer...

The drive home was interesting, but uneventful. I kept to side streets and off the highway.
Police shut down my work's only exit. We were stuck at work till 3am. It has made me seriously rethink my bug out plan in case the ****.
It took my wife and I an hour each to get home over a distance that normally takes us 15-30min max. Not bad compared to other people... after we got home around 6pm we looked out the window and watched the traffic backed up on our street (a semi-main North-South vein, but one that NEVER gets backed up except rarely a little at the intersections) from one light all the way down the street through another light and to the light of the next major intersection! YIKES! We're talking a *FULL* SLC-sized block!

We looked out again at 8:30pm... same thing...

At 9:30pm when we went to bed... yep, same thing...
A colleague of mine choose to take the frontage road by I-15. Made his normally 35-minute commute into 8 hours.
Yep it was nasty.

I think we ended up with about 8-10 inches with drifts across the driveway ext. of about 18" or so.

I'm really ready for spring now.......

I should have known better

If "work" is in a heated building, I would rather be stuck there than on the street somewhere.

These mean winter storms are as close to a wide spread disaaster as anything I have seen in my lifetime here in Utah. They can be quite crippling. All we would need is a widespread power outage to go with it and we would be in big trouble.
