Anyone have recommendations for a good hollowpoint 9mm load? I recently got a CZ75 and so far have only used FMJs and some lead bullet handloads but I would like to carry this pistol and have it loaded with something effective. Thanks

I use THIS ammo from Black Hills. No feed problems (like I've experienced with some other JHP rounds in my gun), but it is somewhat expensive.

I'm also looking, but will most likely go with:

Hornady FPD
Extreme Shock (Air Freedom)
Winchester Ranger SXT or T-Series

My very first choice is the Hornady TAP FPD. It is, HANDS DOWN, the most accurate ammo I have even used. They are rated as +P, and I am pretty sure your firearm can handle that, if I have done my homework correctly.

Hornady, Hornady, Hornady.

Oh, did I say Hornady?

I've been shot with a BB gun before. It smarts. Do you volunteer to be shot with MY 9mm BB gun loaded with Winchester Ranger SXT or Federal Hydrashock??? :shades: Didn't think so.

My mags are currently loaded with Winchester Black Talon's, but I'm currently phasing them out with Hydrashocks.

They key is, whatever you get, be sure to run a bunch of it through your gun. Defense loads is A LOT different from the cheap ball stuff you've been shooting and you want to make sure you know what to expect and your gun handles it well.

Winchester Black Talons, Silvertips or SXTs
Federal C9BP
I also have 500 rounds of IMI/Sampson Die-Cut which are Isreali Black Talon or SXT clones.

Don't reload self-defense ammo, buy that at the store. Reload for target/range practice only. It is a widely held concept that using reloaded ammo in a self-defense gun is a bad idea and can only lead to problems if you were ever tried in court. Good luck with your hunt!

Long story short...
I HAD a glock once upon a time and happen to shoot a round thru a mattress a about 18 inches distance and it was stopped by one of the 1X1 pieces of wood in it  .

can I say.........BB GUN?

I reload 230 grain Hornady XTP's over about 5 grains of Red Dot.
For a 9mm? I had ejection issues at 147 gr.
No...sorry. That's out of my .45. I have reloaded some 147 grain Hornady's for my 9mm, but the best performance (again, for MY 9mm) was with the 115 grainers. Can't remember what powder it was...seems like maybe Green Dot? Not sure...

My comment on my reloads was really a commentary on Hornady bullets. They are just really, really accurate.
