Hello UCC.C. I was shown this site by apollosmith back in September 2007 and have visited almost daily. Decided it was time to become a part of this great forum. I am an active member of XDTalk.com and yes, the XD45 Service is my primary carry weapon and is backed up by a Taurus PT1911 when I want to carry something heavier. I am looking to add a SP101 with a 3 inch barrel someday.

I live and work in Cache Valley but was born and raised east of Firth Idaho. Came here for schooling and have yet to find a suitable job in South East Idaho so here I stay.

I am married and have five children, so my firearm fund is usually $0.00. My oldest daughter is currently enrolled in the 4H Shooting Sports class and my 8 year old son will take it next year, but all of my children except the baby have been shooting BB guns and 22s since they could pull the trigger while Dad held the gun steady. My wife loves to shoot clays and is planning to take the hunter education with our oldest daughter this summer so we can all go bird hunting this fall!

I have had my carry permit since last June. I had considered getting it sooner but just never did. Then a good friend at work started talking about getting his permit and I thought long and hard about it. On Feb 12, 2007, I was walking into the local Maceys grocery store with my wife and I told her I was not going to get my concealed carry permit. I do not remember why I had decided not to, but when I got home and turned on the news, I watched the Trolley Square tragedy and the next day signed up for the CCW Class along with about half the valley it seemed. It took almost 90 days to get my permit.

This is a great site and I try to refer all the Utah people I find on XDTalk here. Thanks for making such a great site for Utah Carry Issues.

Welcome to our forum!

Excellent! Another Cache Valley resident. Soon, we can have a Cache Valley luncheon. So far, they've all been from Layton to Provo.

Thanks for introducing yourself. Stick around and participate. This is a fun group.

I was among those whose permit took about 90 days. I wonder if BCI had a big surge right after the Trolley Square shootings and that is why it took so long.

Actually, that might have played a small part in the slowdown. However, I believe the permit floodgates at BCI were opened when the legislature finally passed a law allowing all funds from CFP's to go directly back into the BCI's coffers instead of the BCI drawing a piddly sum from the state coffers. This allowed the BCI to hire more people and get the program running more efficiently.

Welcome. If I understand Jeff is going to take all of us from Cache Valley to lunch?
GREAT!!!!
You're very funny.

I'm not as rich as Strategic Tactical... :grinningjester:

However, a Cache Valley luncheon sounds like a very good idea, but I'm not the guy to organize it. Any Cache Valley volunteers?

Thank you all for the kind welcome.

A cache valley get together sounds good. Once the weather warms a bit, I would love to see an outdoor get together with pot luck Dutch Oven or such. I cannot remember if I have more guns, or more Dutch Ovens right now.
