New Legislative Session

Tomorrow, Civil Rights Day, our state legislature sits. This means that we must all be vigilant and not just watch what may be happening, but be actively engaged in making sure our rights are protected, this includes our 2nd amendment rights as well as the rest of them.
That being said, be sure to keep a tab on what is happening daily until March. Voice your concerns to your representatives, call them, email them etc. If you are able to do so I encourage you to go to the Capitol in order to either stand for, or against any legislation which may be presented so that our freedoms will be able to be maintained.
When the session is over remember that it may not truly be over & we must keep vigilant throughout the year.
I will be doing this & encourage all to do the same.

Here's a site that looks like it can help us stay involved. I just saw it mentioned on the Ch2 News. They mentioned this site has a "Senate Cam" along with email and cell-phone updates. Apparently you can also use the site to send messages to your particular Senator.

The challenge I have is staying informed of what is going on in the legislature. I personally don't make time to research what they are doing. Seems like I only hear after the fact on the news. It would sure by nice to have someone that watches everything they do and notifies us if any bills or discussions are something that we should be concerned with. We need a legislative JUNKIE to watch whats going on and give us tips and warning.

We do. Forum member Clark Aposhian is a great voice for us in the Senate. He's there every year lobbying for pro-gun bills and against anti-gun bills. He's a great asset for us there.

You can also sign up for email updates from the Utah Shooting Sports Council and probably from GOUtah as well.

If anybody spots pro or anti-gun bills, please post it here as well, so that we can activate our members to contact their legislators.
You can also receive short text updates to your cell phone by texting the word "Senate" to 83043.
I just found this quote this morning & want to share it here because of its due relevance:

"No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session."
-- Judge Gideon J. Tucker (1826-1899)

Now if that doesn't put things into perspective I don't know what does.
Be vigilant!
