The trouble is that he/she is not here yet until the registration process is completed, which won't happen until a valid email address that can actually receive email is used. If you remember when you registered, you received such an email in which there was a link that you had to click on to complete the registration.

We'll have to hold our welcomes until Tree makes it through that process, I guess.
