My wife and I will probably come if someone does the leg work of setting it up. We are always looking for an excuse to get a babysitter and go to dinner...even if it is 1 1/2 hour drive.

Not to say you don't want a babysitter, but if you can't find one our kids, at least our baby will be there. Our daughter would love to have someone to play with, she is 5 years old.

I have 3 boys. Ages 7, 4 (for another week), and 1. They are well behaved and pretty good kids, BUUUUTTTT my wife and would much rather leave them home. LOL. Dinner without the kids is sometimes our only escape!

I will have the details set and posted this weekend, but it is looking like the 17th is the day, and I am getting a lot of interested doing a Late Lunch vs Dinner so I will have that all worked out and posted as well. B

Any of you think it is tacky for him to have a mini cap gun and a holster to wear around to look like daddy at this age?? The wife seems to think that is going overboard.

I asked my wife if we could arm our daughter with a cap or squirt gun for the last meet. She did not like the idea, but my daughter did! I think the biggest problem would be kids keeping it in the holster!

We can get a babysitter for our daughter but not our son he is still too little.

I think that this is a very good point to emphasize. I believe that we are on completely safe legal ground doing an open-carry lunch/dinner. HOWEVER, to remain safe, both legally and physically, we should be very careful that all guns stay holstered the entire time. To unholster a gun to show to one another would, I think, incur unacceptable risks in such a setting. Not only does it court unnecessary physical risks, but would also be very bad PR.

Please. Let's keep all guns holstered 100% of the time during these get-togethers.

If we want to show off our guns, lets do it at a gun range. Then we can let others see and even shoot our guns, which is great fun.

+1 A public get together like this should be no different than meeting with a group of friends or family or eating out alone. Guns stay holstered at all times. Even if there were no legal issues, from a pure safety standpoint this is the only safe practice.

Now that being said, we should hold a meet that involves shooting. Like any group that gathers for the sake of a shared activity we need to actually go and do the activity together. Maybe for Decembers meet we need to hit the range instead/addition to a meal.

I would like to come, but unless the meeting were in the evening for dinner that may not be possible.
I would like to bring my wife but she works Every Saturday (obviously you can tell we both hate it too) and can't get away till after 5 on Saturdays. I would like to bring her for several reasons;
Other than being the person to introduce her to lawful carry, or to gun shows, or to firing at a simulator she has yet to fire a weapon on her own. She is a bit fearful and also has concerns about packing in public (which I discussed in my article on carrying at the E Center). I would really like to help her learn to understand not only the "gun" culture, but also that we are just everyday people and she shouldn't have fears like this as they are irrational.
She was never raised around guns and I think something like this would be excellent for her. So I guess I am saying Dinner/Supper would be good for us as we would have to come from Salt lake after she finished work.
Hopefully this would be a very educational event for us to attend. Besides, I would love to meet others of the forum. I have met Genetics Dave & his father as well as Clark Aposhian and wouold love to get to know more of you.

There is no such thing as too much safety when it comes to firearms, especially when we are under the very watchful eye of the public. B

I agree with keeping the guns in the holsters. It wouldn't look good for a little child to be waving a gun around and accidentaly sweep some people. Lets have fun.... Do we have the set date and time?????
