He was never even on my list of people I would chose to vote for. Democrat = socialist communist movement!! One of the main goals is disarmament of the citizen population witch makes control easier!! When will the pro gun democrats realize this!! :nilly:

Don't get me wrong John McCain isn't much better so I'm going to take a troop of girl scouts and take over canida! Who's with me? :bat:
I'm just hoping that enough Democrats and especially Republicans realize that their candidates are terrible and not really choices at all. Senator Ron Paul is still in the running and it we all decide we hate the major candidates, he could be our next president. He's the only one out there looking out for our interests and backing the original tenets of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

To each his own. Just vote for the best candidate that you feel will get the job done for us American citizens, military and families that we deserve.

Got a response-in-a-can from the good Senator this morning.
Dear Friend,

Thank you for contacting me about gun laws and the Second Amendment. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue. Americans broadly agree that guns must be kept from those who may pose a threat, and that the rights of legitimate hunters and sportsmen should be protected.

We must work to ensure that guns do not fall into the hands of criminals or the mentally ill through an effective background check system. We also have to strike a reasonable balance between public safety and sportsmen's rights.

I will continue to work for effective gun laws, including reinstatement of the assault weapons ban that the last Congress allowed to expire, and effective law enforcement. I will also speak out against the culture of violence that traps so many of our young people.

Thank you again for contacting me on this important issue.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
I wonder if they have a computer program that searches the text of incoming messages to find what the sender was commenting about, and sends the appropriate response, or if they have to pay college students minimum wage to do that.

Not only did I get that same automated message, I was put on their mail list and they are now soliciting for support for their cause. Thank goodness for email blocking software.

Ditto.
This is the reason I have 2 email accounts. My real email which I rarely give out. Then my other email that I use for stuff like this and any time I need to write down an email address that I suspect will get spread around which is basically every time someone asks for one. It has worked really well. Then all the junk goes to my junk address and the important stuff gets to me.

:agree:

Perhaps people should start feeding his robot address' that will quickly bring his :spam: to the attention of the FTC... I didn't see any option on his contact form to opt-in or out of receiving messages and solicitations.

Here are some interesting articles on Mr. O's 2A posturing...

Article Link":19ttxa31]Why Did Obama Tip His Hand on CCW?: Barack Obama is embracing anti-gun policies in the run-up to a Democratic presidential debate scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings. “I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama told the Pittsburgh Tribune. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.” These remarks break from Obama’s previous moderate rhetoric on gun control…Obama’s tough talk on gun control may be prompted by Philadelphia-based Democratic leaders who are pressuring Clinton and Obama to adopt harder stances on gun control. This issue is expected to come up in ABC News’ Democratic debate on April 16 in Philadelphia. 32 people were shot to death on the campus of Virginia Tech by Seung-Hui Cho April 16, 2007…

Article Link":19ttxa31]Obama’s Smoking Gun: …Like many of Obama’s contradictions, his stated belief in the individual rights view of the Second Amendment is at odds with his support for DC’s categorical ban on handguns. That law is currently being challenged in District of Columbia v. Heller, now pending before the Supreme Court. Fifty five senators and 250 house members (including many Democrats in both chambers) signed a brief in that case supporting the individual rights view. Obama was not one of them. And now we know why. As has been reported all week, in 1996 Obama filled out a candidate questionnaire where he revealed his true beliefs on all sorts of subjects, from abortion to school choice. One question that has not gotten much attention, however, asks if Obama supports legislation to, “ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.” His one-word answer -uncommonly direct and lacking the flowery eloquence we’ve come to expect from him - was “Yes.”

Democrat Barack Obama on Tuesday insulted millions of legally-armed American citizens when he told a Pennsylvania newspaper that concealed carry poses a threat to innocent people,

Senator Obama, quoted by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, admitted, “I am not in favor of concealed weapons. I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”
So does this mean he is a supporter of open carry?

Sportsman's rights. The nerve of some people.

It's not sportsmen who's rights you violate with disarmament, Obama-sama. It's human beings. It's not a sportsman's right, it's the right of every last living soul who feels his/her life is worth defending.

The second amendment is not about hunting deer; it's about hunting fascists.

The way you ensure that weapons aren't in the hands of the mentally ill is to commit them to hospitals. The way you ensure weapons are not in the hands of criminally violent is to throw them into jail.

No amount of controls outside of prison and mental institutions could possibly work.

Any attempts to put such controls on all of society turn THE WHOLE OF SOCIETY INTO PRISONS AND MENTAL INSTITUTIONS!

Seriously. To what purpose? Do you believe that emails and comments will permanantly change his long-held and fundamental beliefs about firearms in civilian hands? I think, at most, he would temper his campaign rhetoric while maintaining his beliefs. Personally, I'd prefer that he just keep digging a deeper hole.

I never did like obama :puke:
Never is a long time. What I mean is not too long ago, I'd never even heard of the guy. Now he's being hailed in some sectors as the savior of mankind with a fervent hero-worship that is alarming. I'm not going to go so far as wonder if this is the sign of the Anti-Christ, but it is disturbing.

At first, I did like him. I first heard him speak in Illinois at a John Kerry support rally back in 2004. His words were motivating-- or at least not horrific.

But then when he became popular, I made the mistake of looking at his voting record.

Yeah, I hate him now. Like all politicians, his words are empty at best, and legitimate threats at worst. It really worries me that he's so popular and it worries me even more to know the reasons WHY he's popular.

Every communist dictator has been praised for speeches just like his.
