Just to clarify... The reporter is doing the story on open carry. If you want to attend, but do not feel comfortable carrying openly, that is perfectly fine.

The meet will be on Wednesday, April 9th at 7:00 P.M. This should give most people enough time after work, and still not be too late in the evening. The place will be Sweet Tomatoes in Sandy near the South Town Mall. Here is the address.

Sweet Tomatoes
10060 S. State St.
Sandy, Utah

If you need directions, the can be found by clicking on this link.

For those who are not familiar , it is a buffet style restaurant. If you still have last Sunday's paper, there are some dinner coupons in the Smart Source ads. I have enough for sixteen people, in case you are cheap like me. :p

I chose Sweet Tomatoes because there are 44 locations in California, and I figure that the California readers can relate to us better if there is a familiar name in the story. (And because my wife really likes their food! ;))

I spoke with the manager of the restaurant, and she is fine with us showing up armed, so there should be no surprises. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. Hope to see everybody there!

I'm always curious about exactly how those conversations go.

Kinda funny, actually! I called, and asked to speak to the store manager. I explained to her that a large group of people would like to dine in her restaurant, and that most would be openly armed. I then asked if that would be OK with her, just so there was no surprises when a bunch of guys with handguns showed up.

She said "I don't think so!" in a sort of you can't do that kind of voice. I told her about the previous meets, and how well they went for us and the restaurants. She put me on hold for a few minutes, and then came back and said that it would be OK with her as long as everyone was legal to do so. I thanked her and that was it!

Is this event the same as the one in the other thread? I think it would be great if we had an LEO there (esp. a higher-up), both for the sake of the article and to calm the fears of the sheeple that may be alarmed when they see us.

I will be there with bells on.... well, not bells, but my XD 45 :D

EDIT: This will be my first time OC, I am glad there will be other people there!

My wife and I are planning on being there. What's the deal on coupons? Do you have any extras?
Dinner is normally $8.99, and the coupons are for $7.99, so you can save a buck. I have four of them that are good for up to four people each. If you still have the paper from March 30th, they can be found in the Smart Source ad.

SGT Jensen said on www.opencarry.org that we will be at least 30 people. This will be awesome.

Let's behave and leave a good impression to Utah and for the rest of the nation since we will be a face for Utah and the Open Carry "society".

So, a friendly tip ---

I've been press qualified in four different companies and have been profiessionally trained a few times. I've been interviewed by AP, analysts, and various other press representatives....

...reporters get the best stories when they get you to say something you don't want to say. They may seem to be your best friend in the interview, and may even ask you to say something "off the record". There is no off the record, and anything you say can be used -- even out of context -- so think about every sentence as if it were standing alone.

Not to sound paranoid, but I've rarely been quoted in a way I thought was wholly accurate.
