Not sure where to post this question so here goes. Without a CC permit I can open carry an unloaded side arm, easy with a revolver, 2 actions to bring a round into play. How do I carry a semi auto? Rack and shoot..

For a semi-auto this is a full mag chamber empty. This satisfies the law by keeping the barrel empty and requiring 2 actions to fire (rack slide, pull trigger) a standard 6 shot revolver the top chamber has to be empty and the next to fire (making a 6 shot a 4 shot). You still have to stay 1000+ft from a school (permit eliminates this restriction) and When driving you need to place the gun in plan view (passenger seat, dash, etc) or lock it away in a trunk or container (not glove box). Then just make sure the gun stays visible (jackets, shirt un-tucking, etc are common potential issues).

Just to clarify, there is no need to actually 'lock' the container. A pistol rug with a zipper will do, or any of the various clamshell style cases, range bags etc...

Yes, A Clear tupperware container will work if so desired. no lock is needed for car travel in utah.
