I have seriously considered picking one up but have been waiting to see what the Magpul Masada/ACR is going to be like.

I decided to do the crayon for my Springfield XD 40. Here are the final pictures:

I did the sides in white and the Springfield Armory Seal on top in gold.

It was actually very fun to do, though you have to be careful not to burn your slide or let it get to hot.

I haven't tried it (yet), but I like the idea of using a hair dryer to heat the slide. There's no way it could get hot enough to damage the finish, but it's plenty warm to melt crayon wax.

I used the crayon on my XD and didn't need to heat it at all. I just rubbed the crayon in over and over again. A little bit of it has worked it's way out after a couple thousand rounds, but it's easy to redo.

My wife doesn't have a hair dryer. She showers at night and straightens her hair in the morning. Maybe I can put the straightener on it...

My dog Toby, with my .17 HMR, with my .223 can riged up to it for suppression, works good actually, heavy and cumbersome, but good from the bench.
