Please copy and paste this link if it doesn't just take you to it. I know on here there are many of us who are Veterans. This is for the Marine Corps but it applies to ALL branches of servie. Once you serve in a foreign land in hostile conditions, you appreciate your country so much more. Thank you.

As a military wife I have been very fortunate and lucky that SGT Jensen has not had to go over seas and pray that he won't ever have to. If that day does come, it will be very had, but I will be behind him supporting him 100 percent in serving our country so we can remain free!

Packingmama, My hat is off to you and all other military spouses both men and women. I currently work for DoD as a civilian now and it hit me how much the spouse suffers and does for their military members while they are deployed.

I deployed days after 9-11 and left my beautiful wife, 2 year old son and 7 day old little girl. It was a vonlunter ONLY deployment. My wife are now divorced inpart of my decision to deploy and leave her with our "family" to raise them while I was in the Middle East. I didn't realize how hard it was on her with our two small children while I was half way around the world.

My heart goes out to YOU being a spouse. It is hard and takes a great person to support their spouse, not knowing when or how they will come home.

I have noticed that almost no one truly knows, understands, or can appreciate what spouses of deployed members go through... until they themselves have to go through it.

When I would get deployed several of my wife's friends acted like it was no big deal. But I noticed how much some of their attitudes changed after THEIR husbands finally got deployed.

The struggle of a spouse of someone deployed is simply unimaginable to most. It's a sad but true fact.

my dad has been my life long hero.
he is a vietnam veteran... i was born after the war.
i have always loved to hear is combat stories (it is/was rare that he talks about it). as a kid his stories were 'normal', i didn't have any idea how scary combat is. only in the last 10 years have i realized what a sacrifice he made. and now that i have a daughter it has made me stop to think. when my dad left for vietnam my parents had 3 children and my mom was expecting another! what a strong woman she was...how hard would that be for her! what a hero she is.
i have the utmost respect for the soldiers and their loved ones at home.
truly a great sacrifice to make.

Thanks Strategic, that was great. I was doing good until the picture of the little girl with the "my daddy my hero" picture.

And a big THANK YOU to all service personel, current and past, and their families.

And to lockout, tell your dad WELCOME HOME, he should know what that means. I went in in 74 and they were still bringing them back from Nam at that time so I ended up in Germany, thank God. May God bless your dad and all who served.

That was very moving! I deeply appreciate those of you who have and are serving to defend our liberties ... and the families who have to make do when separated a world away.

I frequently work in close contact with members of the military and am impressed that they volunteered to do this. They have my prayers.
